Meet Chani
Judowitz
Hi, I’m Chani. For the past 12 years, I’ve immersed myself in the world of digital illustration—drawing, learning, teaching, and exploring every aspect of this incredible field.
From Disney animators to years of intense study under top Israeli artists, I have poured countless hours in learning this craft. Now, after all these years, it’s my pleasure to bring my knowledge to the Jewish world.
I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have worked on a variety of projects, from The Kichels in Mishpacha Magazine to many illustrations for The Circle Magazine, as well as children’s books like 613 Torah Avenue and Living Emunah.
“Illustration is visual vocabulary. With the right technique and tools, your drawings can tell a powerful story.”
Chani Judowitz
Meet our staff
Mentor
Yocheved Nadell
I’m Yocheved Nadell, a freelance illustrator based in Israel. My career began with fashion design and illustration at Otis College of Art and Design, and over the past 7 years, I’ve had the privilege of illustrating books and publications for major Jewish publishers, as well as creating my own series, Adina: My Design Sketchbook.
It’s a gift to work in an area that I love and enrich the frum community with my illustrations, filling our homes with meaningful and beautiful books and resources.
Mentoring aspiring artists and sharing my skills and experience with young talent is also incredibly fulfilling. Watching how our students grow in their skills and develop their talents brings me great joy, and I’m so happy to be part of the team.
I really enjoyed the live mentoring sessions and learned so much from all the feedback on both my work and the work of others.
Photoshop basics instructor
Suri Orlander
Hi, I’m Suri Orlander, a freelance illustrator and oil-painting artist from London. My journey began with traditional art, creating custom oil paintings for clients all around the world.
Over the years, I’ve also learned airbrushing, designed custom t-shirts, painted walls for individuals and schools, and created large wall stickers for preschools.
While living in Israel, I studied for 3 intense years with Emunah Shatz, Gadi Pollak’s first student, and mastered the amazing world of digital illustration.
After moving back to the UK, I’ve been teaching in seminaries, and really enjoy sharing my skills with my students. I’m so happy to be part of this talented team and to empower even more students to express their creative potential.
I loved seeing how 3 different artists worked, and learned a lot just from watching their process.

My drawing looks off, what am I doing wrong?
How do I make the lighting look so realistic?
How can I create a scene from any angle?
What do our students say?
Questions? Let’s answer them.
Do I need to know how to draw to take this course?
YES! You have to be the type of person who enjoys drawing and has raw talent. We’ll take your raw talent and teach you the skills to bring your drawing to a whole new level.
Not sure if your drawing skills are good enough? Please send us a sample drawing of a character in a scene to chaya@psdesignschool.com, and we’ll be happy to advise.
If I already know how to draw, can I take just The Advanced Digital illustration part?
The vast majority of applicants need to take The Foundations of Art. If you have studied art on an academic level, please be in touch with us, and we’d be happy to consider allowing you to go straight to The Advanced Digital Illustration part of the course.
I know Photoshop already; do I really need to take this part of the course?
Yes. Firstly, Photoshop for illustration is vastly different from Photoshop for graphic design, so even if you’re experienced in Photoshop as a graphic designer, there is still plenty to learn.
Our experience is that every student, no matter what their Photoshop background, has what to learn from this part of the course.
Do I need to have a background in Photoshop?
We are starting from the very beginning. We will walk you through the basics of Photoshop, so you do not need to have a background
What equipment do I need? Do I need a tablet?
You’ll need a working computer, and you’ll also need a tablet. Keep in mind that the tablet doesn’t replace your computer—it connects to it. We provide a special guide with tablet recommendations once you sign up.
The tablet we recommend most is around $600, but there are good options starting at $300.
How is the course structured?
The course starts on Nov 5th and consists of one live class and two recorded classes per week, plus homework from each class. Our course is unique in that we offer live mentoring sessions on a weekly basis – our students enjoy one-on-one guidance throughout the course.
How much time will I need to invest each week in the full digital illustration course?
On average, students spend about 15 hours a week, including class time, mentoring, and homework. Some may spend a bit more or less, depending on their pace.
I don’t have 15 hours a week, but I really want to take the course. Do you have a slower pace option?
Absolutely! You can start with the Foundations of Art in the first year and move on to Digital Illustration the next year. This way, you can better manage your time.
Can I sign up for just the Digital Illustration course without taking Foundations of Art first?
The Digital Illustration course is only available to students who have completed Foundations of Art. This ensures that everyone has the fundamental skills needed before diving into digital illustration.
